JERUSALAM

The Israel Museum

As Israel’s largest cultural institution, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem boasts a reputation as one of the world’s leading art and archaeology museums. Established in 1965 and extensively renovated in 2010, the museum offers a captivating journey through time, encompassing the art, Judaica, and ancient artifacts of the Land of Israel and beyond.

Among its most prized possessions are Dead Sea Scrolls, housed within the Shrine of the Book. These are some of the earliest Biblical scrolls ever discovered. Close by is the wonderful model of Second Temple Era Jerusalem, meticulously reconstructing the city’s layout and architectural character before its destruction in 66 CE with the Jewisg rebellion against the Romans.

Beyond these, the main museum galleries are great to check out and visit, with an amazing archaeological section, alongside artworks, and pieces in different conceptual galleries. The Israel Museum promises an interesting and enriching encounter with the local, regional, and global story of human history and artistic expression.
